This toy turned out better than I ever could have expected. We were going through all my daughters bath toys and throwing out ones that she had outgrown. I told her she could pick out something new and that’s when I discovered this mermaid toy. As soon as it came my daughter wanted to open it. The packaging was a standard Barbie package. I was able to get it out pretty quickly with just a pair of scissors. Immediately my daughter figured out how to make her tail light up. Different timing of pushing the button makes the tail do different light patterns. The lights are bright and multicolored. That night she took her new mermaid in the bath with her. She did many trips beneath the water while lit up and I was not at all concerned with the lights not working. After taking her out of the bath my daughter continued to play with her. Through many baths and other play times, this Barbie has continued to light up and work better than expected. I would buy time and time again.

WORKS WELL IN AND OUT OF WATER. LIGHTS ARE GREAT!

My daughter is full swing into the Barbie phase. Why not have a Barbie you can take into the bath too? This mermaid Barbie ended up being a great choice. Her lights are awesome, she's great in the water, and she still has the normal Barbie hair that you can brush and style. She works well both in and out of water. She's so simple to use, a very young kiddo could make her lights work. She has a necklace that's also a button. You press the button and Barbie lights up. Easy as that! Once you've pressed the button to get her out of power save mode, she also lights up when you put her in the water (no need to press the button again). She doesn't have a motor or anything that makes her swim. A child needs to hold onto her to make her move in the water. I recommend NOT cutting the ties that hold the crown onto her head. If you do, the crown will never stay again. Great bath time fun for a Barbie fan!

Magical Mermaid Fun

This doll is so pretty. She's one of those that you wish you had as a kid growing up. I think I was more excited to open it than my daughter. My 4 year old thinks she's a Mermaid since she learned to swim without floaties this year, lol, so she loved it too. The tail is beautiful and lights up gorgeously. It dries well after use. We've put it in the swimming pool several times and it works fine still. I would definitely recommend this Barbie.

My almost 2 year old loves mermaids and Barbies, so I figured this particular Barbie would make a really great addition to her Easter basket. Most Barbies are too old for her or have too many small parts. This Barbie doesn't have any small parts that she could choke on (the crown is held on by plastic tags but you could cut them off and remove the crown if you have a younger child). My daughter absolutely loves how she lights up in and out of the water and the doll's hair dries perfectly after the bath as if it was never wet. Very hard to find a bath toy/doll that can get wet and doesn't become gross afterwards. The battery is well protected inside her back too. She is very sturdy too, not like the cheaper Barbie Fashion dolls. Well worth the money! I can see why it's a bestseller!

Just what my daughter wanted!

My soon to be 4th old said she wanted a mermaid barbie so we looked it up &this was perfect! Great price &the lights that light up the tail aren't too bright for my sensitive eyes!...only downfall is it says you can emerge the barbie halfway in water to get it to do a different light...but my little girl is going to want to put it all the way in &it'll probably mess up then so we just don't let her even get it close to the water...

Durable

Very cute and super durable. My daughter's last one was heavily abused for years, and still functions fine to the day. She wanted a second one. My daughter baths with hers, and brings it in the pool. She left it in the pool water for a week at one point, and on the pool deck countless times, in the sun...and besides minor fading, it still functions perfectly.

Great Barbie! I got it for my 4 year ...

Great Barbie! I got it for my 4 year old for Christmas and so far, the doll has held up great for 6 months. My daughter has taken it in the pool almost every weekend and in the bathtub every night and the batteries still work, it still lights up. The hair dries well and there are no signs of wear at all, looks brand new. The crown did fall off but thats no big deal. Overall I am very impressed. This is my daughter's favorite doll and I hope it will last a long time.

Great doll

Our 4-year-old really likes the Barbie Rainbow Mermaid Doll. The item arrived about 3 days ago, 2 days later than planned due to the heavy snow storm. She has been having so much fun with the sparkle lights by pressing on the button on the necklace for the colorful lights to come on. She also submerged the Dreamtopia Mermaid Doll into the tub water to activate the rainbow lights and she then pressed the sides of the peplum to stimulate the swimming motion of the tail. Our little girl enjoys to see this "magical" Barbie doll swim while she sings her favorite Disney songs.

My daughter loves this.

My daughter loves barbies that look like Mermaids. This one will light up and she has taken it to the bath and the pool and it still works. I was unsure at first how it would handle being in the water as much as it has, but it has held up well and still lights up. You have to press the necklace to make her light up, and the necklace cannot be removed. The end of the tail moves which she likes.

Love this mermaid barbie

Love this mermaid barbie! This is my 4 year olds new favorite bath toy. She loves mermaids and dolls in general, and this barbie covers both of those. She loves the lights and her tail. I do wish her crown stayed on better. It came with two tags holding the crown on her, and I decided not to clip them so that the crown would stay on her. But even with the tags holding the crown to her head, it still moves around. I am also worried about the water sensors on her back and if they will erode eventually. I'm making sure that after every bath she gets set out to dry well in hopes that it will keep her in working order. So far so good, but she's only had it for a week. Overall this is a very fun Barbie doll especially if your little likes mermaids.
