The product says it's for short hair but our guy is long haired and it works amazing!!! We just rescued him and he was a mess. But after a bath and an hour of brushing with the Furminator he's looking like a new cat! I can't wait to see in a few weeks how good he will truly look!

Basically i cloned my cat in the first 2 hour session of furminator. I bought the small one for shorter hair and the anmount of hair i removed is incredible.. Check the picture i uploaded in the product. A little pricey (35) but worth it..

I have a short-haired, eleven year old tomcat who has never been brushed. It's not that I don't care about grooming him, it's just that I swear to God I never knew you were supposed to brush cats. Dogs, maybe; horses, sure! But cats? They spend all day cleaning themselves! He's never had a bath, either. Am I a bad cat mom? So anyway I bought this brush because the cat developed a little bit of a rash on his lower back (upper tail?) and I thought it might be best if he didn't swallow so much hair while trying to scratch it. When I took the brush out of the box, the first thing I noticed was that it's heavy. It feels well-made. The handle is comfortable, and it doesn't look like it's likely to break anytime soon. I gave it a trial run through my own hair (is that weird?), and came out unscathed. This product has been tested on people! It didn't pull a single hair out of my head. I don't know what that says about me. As for the cat, he was very excited to find me sitting on the floor in the living room. When he came up to investigate, I surprised him by running the brush down his back. This might not be the best tactic if you have a cat who trusts you. After the initial "WTF" reaction, he settled in for a nice long brush. He'd wander away every few minutes then come back for more. When I was finally done (when the brush wasn't really pulling anything else out of him), I had a pile of fur big enough to construct a new cat. When I put the brush down on the floor to go get a trash bag, I returned to find him lying in the pile of hair, rubbing his face on the brush. The cat is super soft and after a day has stopped chewing on his butt. So it was a hit. Recommendations: 1. Do not brush your cat while wearing nice clothing. You'd think this would be common sense, but I am, apparently, an idiot. 2. Brush your cat outside, unless your cat likes to run away or your yard is infested with hawks or something. 3. Introduce the cat to the brush the way you'd introduce him to a new toy or a new husband. 4. Take pictures of the giant pile of fur that this brush produces.

The Furminator is a game-changer. Our gorgeous long hair was throwing up hair balls 1-2 X a week. We tried regular brushes, hair balls food, and hair ball oil. The oil was horrible as he turned into a feral crazy cat willing to maim as we held him down. Can't imagine doing that several times a week. Every time we brush him we get a HUGE pile of hair. He is a sensitive cat so we have to brush him when he is willing and even then we try to limit it to a minute or so. He can get crabby about it FAST. You are pulling out the super fine underlying hair especially. We try to brush him gently and walk away before he gets upset. Lots of praise and telling him what a good boy he is. If I could give this 10 Stars I would. I used to cringe when I saw him licking himself because I knew he would be throwing it up later. Love love love the Furminator!!!!!

I ordered this product to help tame my cat's shedding and it has worked wonders. I now have 3 cats worth of hair, seriously my wife came home and almost started petting the pile of hair. If only there were some way to make money with cat hair, then I would not only be pleased but deliriously rich.

I had heard about this product on one of the cleaning groups I follow online. I was HIGHLY skeptical. It was a ton more money that I felt like we should be spending, and we already had a brush for our long-haired cat. He was constantly shedding and getting sick on hairballs. A few months later, I finally decided to talk to my husband about it. He was also highly skeptical, but we decided it was worth a try. MAN. I would buy this thing all over again. I couldn't believe the fur it pulled out of his undercoat! I did press gently, because the tines are quite sharp. Due to the way the tines are built and the amount of undercoat my fluff of a cat has, I did follow up with a quick brush with your typical cat brush just to pick up any remaining stragglers it left on his top coat. What I mean by this is that it pulled all of the loose undercoat out and I worked it from front to back as videos on youtube recommended. The tines have a harder time getting all the stragglers left behind on the top coat, so I took not even 1 minute and cleaned up with my other brush. I will say I almost purchased an off-brand but decided not to after reading reviews about them being knock-offs from China and the tines easily breaking. This product is quality. It comes with a guard to place over the tongs. I even used this brush across our carpet to pile up the fine downy-like hair that was left behind. Would buy again.

I am a professional cat groomer and I use these almost every day. When I post pictures on my business page of the cats next to a massive pile of fur, it's thanks to this bad boy. You do have to be careful to choose the length that's best for your cat and if you can try it out first wether at a local shop or store I would highly recommend it. The long hair doesn't always work best on long haired cats and same goes for the short hair version. Every cats coat is different. If neither of them work for your cat then you need a rubber zoom groom. The push button is a new feature to furminators and a very convenient one. It really saves time not having to stop and pull the fur out, one push and it falls right off. Also it's nice because of those kitties with dandruff or other yuck in their fur, an be brushed out without having to handle it as much. As a warning, furminators have blade in it (nothing that will cut your cat) but it will keep puling hair out until there's nothing left. You need to get a feel for when you've removed the undercoat (fluffy stuff) and stop before stripping too much top coat. Also run the furminator along your bare arm first, it won't feel too good. This will give you a feel for how lightly you want to brush the cat, if you pull the brush up at a slight angle it won't run over their skin as much and will still remove plenty of undercoat. Cats have very thin skin and it's easy to give them brush burn if used too hard. Brush burn is a sort of rash, you can part the fur and see red skin with the stripes (in the direction it was brushed) its painful for the cats and there's not much to be done about it other than wait for it to heal. And it will make the cat less likely to want to be brushed in the future. Many companies have tried to replicate the furminator, but from a professional who had been using these products since 2007 I can highly recommend them and though they may cost a bit more it's worth every penny! I hope my review helps you make your decision and that I've given you some helpful tips on how to use it most effectively!

Why in the world did I not get one of these sooner? I love this thing. I looked at review pictures and the picture on the pack and thought there was no way I would get a pile of fluff like that. I DID! After less than 10 minutes of brushing her, I had a big pile. And as a bonus, she seemed to enjoy it. I stopped at the pile I am posting a picture of and have not brushed her again for almost 2 weeks and I have still noticed a drastic difference in the amount of shedding. She is quite a fluffy cat, so I will likely do this every 7-10 days now that I see how amazing it is. The price can't be beat on amazon, it was $53.99 at my local PetSmart. I thought I was seeing things, that is absurd!

My cat normally won't let a brush anywhere near him, so I knew it was a risk to spend money on the Furminator... but it actually turns out that he loves it! He lays down on his side and enjoys every minute of the brushing. I honestly didn't think that the brush would work this well, but I was pleasantly surprised! Now there isn't (as much) hair on all my furniture! He also had a bad case of dandruff prior to being brushed by the Furminator, but after a few sessions, it has mostly cleared up. His coat also looks much shinier. If you are wondering whether or not to buy this product, I strongly recommend that you do!

Ok seriously? How did I not know about this before now? My cats will not tolerate being brushed and, believe me, I've tried a truckload of different brushes. I cut this beauty free from it's environment-killing plastic and grabbed me a cat. Just gently gliding it along his back I was dumbfounded at the amount of hair that came off him. And crazier yet, he seemed to enjoy it. Like I didn't even have to hold him down, he just stood there and leaned into the comb. I was like WTH?? So I grabbed the older cranky one that acts like I'm skinning alive if he even sees me within 10 feet of a brush. Well, he didn't love it but not only did I emerge without needing stitches, his vocal protest consisted of a grrrr and a harrumph followed by a slightly whinier grrr before I praised him and let him down. I don't know about your cats but this is almost equivalent to angels singing hallelujah in my book! Best $35 and change I ever spent!
